As a kid, I couldn’t wait for Halloween. The dressing up, the trick-or-treating, the candy…did I mention the candy?? However, as a parent, I have come to appreciate the non-candy alternatives. Not only do we avoid the super sugar high, but some of the items can be played with for months to come.
Everything on this list can be purchased at the Dollar Tree and/or Amazon. I have included links for the Amazon products to make it easier.
Fruit Snacks
These are a healthier option and most kids love them. There are so many varieties available and you can buy them in bulk. I just ordered two big boxes on Amazon for our upcoming church corn maze.
Pretzels
These are a big hit with my youngest. He’d much rather get pretzels than a lolli-pop or jolly rancher. These are fun because you can find them in Halloween shapes. Festive and tasty.
Jello
This is a fun and refreshing treat for kids and adults alike. You can buy either sugar free or regular. They come in various flavors. I love these because the cups are extra big.
Stickers
What kid doesn’t love stickers? You can either give larger single stickers, give sheets or stickers, sticker books or specialty stickers. The possibilities are endless…ok, maybe not endless, but you have choices. I like these because children are able to decorate and use their imaginations to create a character.
Small Toys
Kids love toys. These Halloween themed toys are great to hand out on Halloween. There are lots of options if you look on amazon. I like this set because you get a large amount and lots of variety. Something for everyone.
Glow Sticks
This is another one for the kids and kids at heart. Glow sticks are so much fun. You can get bracelets, necklaces, neck hangers, wands etc. I usually get my glow sticks at the Dollar Tree but Amazon has a great selection as well.
Play-doh
Kids always enjoy getting play-doh. You can offer Halloween colors or buy a multipack in bulk. If your kids can manage to keep the lid on, this treat will last long after the sun sets on October 31. (my kids can’t seem to keep a container of playdoh for longer than a few days….)
Squishies
My daughter is obsessed with these toys. I can kind of understand, they are relaxing to squeeze, like a stress ball. But I do not like the kind that are filled with liquid. They pop easily and make a big mess.
Themed Erasers
Themed erasers are always a big hit. These are some adorable jack o’lantern erasers that are sure to make the kiddos smile. Bonus: they can enjoy them long after Halloween is over.
Light Up Rings
I gave LED rings as party favors for my daughter’s birthday last year. The class went wild for them. These are some super fun age-appropriate Halloween themed rings.
Slime
This is probably, no, this is definitely my LEAST favorite item on the list. I do not like slime. But my kids love it. I have yet to meet a kid who doesn’t. This is a fun Halloween slime that will make kids scream with delight!
Vampire Teeth
I’m not sure what the big attraction is to vampire teeth, but kids throughout the generations seem to love them. I know I did and my kids do too. These glow in the dark fangs are perfect for Halloween night.
Bubbles
Bubbles are the perfect treat for little ghosts and goblins. The only thing better than plain bubbles are Halloween themed bubbles. These pumpkin wands come in bulk making them a great choice.
Temporary Tattoos
Halloween-themed tattoos are safe for the kids, easy to apply, and they’ll have a blast showing them off at school the next day. These are glow in the dark, which makes them even cooler.
Bouncy Balls
Although there are a ton of choices in the bouncy ball department; nothing says Halloween like eyeball bouncy balls. These are very cool glowing eyeballs that the kids will go batty for!
Bottled water with fun label
OK, water may not seem like a fun treat, but when the kids are walking (or in some cases running) door to door to fill their bags, water is the perfect treat. Get creative and add these Halloween labels to make it more festive.
