Anxiety can be debilitating. It can hold you back from living your best life, and we only get one, so please don’t suffer in silence. There are some easy and natural ways to help reduce anxiety at home.
Feelings of anxiousness can cause difficulties in concentration, disrupt sleep, and it make it hard to feel good about yourself.
If you suffer with anxiety or nervousness on a regular basis, you are definitely not alone. In fact, anxiety disorders affect about 40 million Americans – and it’s not something that should be ignored. Excessive worrying can be detrimental to your health and wellbeing, as it increases blood pressure, leads to insomnia, and may even cause heart problems.
With so many treatment options available, no one has to simply “deal” with anxiety. If you experience racing thoughts, restless nights, and excessive worrying, and are looking to reduce anxiety naturally, try incorporating these quick remedies into your daily routine.
HOT BATH
Soaking in a warm essential oil infused bubble bath is a very relaxing way to melt your anxiety away. I like to add 3-4 drops of Lavender Essential Oil and some Epsom Salt.
According to an article from Valley Oaks Health Club, a bath can actually have as much of an impact on your mood as physical exercise. Studies have shown that taking a bath can activate your parasympathetic nervous system, which is the part of your body responsible for relaxation. As your nervous system adjusts to the warming effect of the water around you, you begin to experience lowered levels of stress. If you are feeling anxious, a bath can physically force your body to change how it processes that anxiety.
Not only can immersive bathing help alleviate anxiety, but it’s also been suggested that taking a bath can positively impact the symptoms of depression. One study concluded that afternoon baths even just twice a week produce a “moderate but persistent” mood lift (this result is comparable to the impact of physical exercise, which is a recommended form of therapy for mild to moderate depression.)
ADAPTIV
Natural and powerful essential oils are an awesome way to experience relief from anxiety and quickly. Over the past 15 months, this blend has become my perfume. I roll it on my wrists and neck multiple times a day to help calm and soothe stress and anxiety.
Adaptiv Touch is a terrific solution to life’s stressful moments. Feelings of restlessness, being wound up, or being on edge happen to everyone from time to time; adapt and regroup with the help of Adaptiv Touch Calming Blend. Lavender, Magnolia, Neroli, and Sweetgum provide stress-relieving effects while Wild Orange and Spearmint energize and uplift. Copaiba and Rosemary soothe anxious feelings to round out the calming blend. When you are feeling fatigued or having difficulty staying on task, Adaptiv Touch Calming Blend helps create a sense of balance.
SCRIPTURE/PRAYER
This is my first line of defense when it comes to anxiety. I always feel at peace after reading God’s word, meditating on scripture and spending quiet time in prayer. It takes my worries away.
Fear, worry and anxiety are all weapons of Satan to keep us from experiencing the full life that God has for us. These emotions can overwhelm us and keep us paralyzed. The wonderful news is that every single person can learn how to live free from worry and anxiety by meditating on the Word and casting your cares upon Jesus! Start today and take small steps today toward living fully free from anxieties. (I would love to pray for you. If you would like prayer please contact me here)

A Prayer to Stop Worrying and Calm Your Mind
“Dear Father, I admit that I often forget that you are with me. I often forget what you’re like. Would you please forgive me for that? I need to get to know you better. I need to get to know your Word and your promises better. Help me to put you first in every area of my life. Help me to live one day at a time. Help me to not worry about tomorrow but instead focus on what you’re doing in my life right now. I want to trust in your promise to take care of every one of my needs — financial, relational, physical, social, spiritual, and emotional. Help me to trust you more and worry less. I pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.” (Rick Warren)
WALK
Walking in nature can be so therapeutic. It’s not the same as walking around a city or even around your neighborhood. Finding somewhere to hike surrounded by trees, dirt, rocks and creeks is the way to go; if you can.
Not only is the physical exercise aspect of walking a good way to reduce anxiety, but being outside in nature is just as, if not more, helpful. An article by Psychiatry Advisor notes that there is “mounting evidence that contact with nature has a significant positive impact on mental health.” Environments directly affect our sense of stress and wellbeing. Spending too much time in front of screens or in a big city can increase feelings of nervousness, stress, and anxiety. Spending time outdoors, in the sunlight, while enjoying nature has been shown to restore a calm and happy mindset.
Just as chronic anxiety and stress release excess hormones that wreak havoc on your physical and mental well-being, exercise (and walking, specifically) releases feel-good endorphins that serve as natural painkillers. These same endorphins help to balance out the adrenaline and cortisol in nerve-wracked systems, and promote a host of other health benefits.
SWIM
My best friend and I have an inside joke. “If there is a boat and water, we are there!” We love being in, around or on water. There is just something about it.
Have you ever noticed that when you go to the beach or float in a river, your worries melt away? Being in or around water seems to have a calming effect on most people. That, coupled with the health benefits of swimming, make it an ideal option to reduce anxiety naturally and quickly. Swimming is especially great for stress relief because the strokes you take involve rhythmic breathing that can trigger the part of your nervous system that’s responsible for rest and relaxation, not to mention the endorphin release that relaxes the nerves.
