POWERFUL NATURAL SOLUTIONS FOR BACK-TO-SCHOOL

With many kids heading back to school this month, this seemed like the perfect time to share our super helpful natural solutions for “back to school”. Whether your child needs an immune boost, help sleeping, lice prevention or help focusing, we’ve got you covered. We use these natural alternatives as a first line of defense in our home and I wanted to share them with you.

Oils are naturally occurring compounds distilled from plants. They provide health benefits without the side effects of many medications. They are only pennies per dose, and with 250 drops of oil in each 15ml bottle, you can get hundreds of doses per bottle.  For example, let’s say you needed to relieve head tension. You could add 1 drop of Peppermint essential oil to a teaspoon of carrier oil and massage it on your temples. That’s 250 headaches in a single bottle! Only 8 cents per dose.

There are 3 ways to use doTERRA essential oils.

  1. Aromatically: The aroma of an essential oil can have an immediate effect on body and brain chemistry. Oils can be used aromatically by smelling from cupped hands, diffusing or smelling right from the bottle.
  1. Topically: Oils are tiny particles that are quickly absorbed by the skin and distributed through the body. Oils can be used topically by applying neat or diluted to the affected area.
  1. Internally: Do NOT use just any essential oil internally. Ensure your oils are both pure and potent. doTERRA oils go through 3rd party testing to ensure that they are unadulterated and have no toxic chemicals or fillers. As long as a doTERRA bottle has supplement facts listed, it is safe to take internally. You can even go to sourcetoyou.com and enter your bottle number to see the complete testing report on your specific bottle of oil.

Products to help boost immunity

On Guard oil: This oil can be used all 3 ways. Some people like to add a drop to water and soak apple slices in it for a healthy snack. It’s a great oil to diffuse daily in your family room and in your child’s bedroom. Applying the oil down your child’s spine and on the bottoms of feet before school each day adds an extra layer of protection during peak icky season which runs from about September to March each year.

On Guard Beadlets: These are perfect for kids. I give my daughter 3 beadlets every morning before she goes to school.

On Guard Hand Sanitizer: I have this stashed everywhere. It’s in my purse, my glovebox in the car, in my daughter’s backpack, next to my kitchen sink, in the bathroom. You name it, there is a bottle there.

Back-to-School Essentials Kit: This is a new kit that helps fight off germs. This kit includes 2 bottles of On Guard foaming hand wash, 3 bottles of On Guard hand sanitizer and 20 sanitizing wipes.

Products to help with better sleep

Serenity: This is one of my favorite oils. It is a blend of Lavender Flower, Cedarwood, Ho Wood Leaf, Ylang Ylang Flower, Marjoram Leaf, Roman Chamomile Flower, Vetiver Root, Vanilla Bean Absolute, Hawaiian Sandalwood. It is heaven on earth. You can apply topically or diffuse.

Lavender: This is probably the most popular well-known oil on the market. doTERRA Lavender stands above all the rest and all it takes is a sniff of the bottle to experience the doTERRA difference. For best results for a better nights sleep apply topically before bedtime or diffuse.

Calmer: This is a roller specifically for kids, but grown ups are welcome to use it. (I know I do!) This is a blend that includes Lavender, Cananga, Buddha Wood, and Roman Chamomile essential oils in a base of Fractionated Coconut Oil. Roll on chest and bottom of feet at bedtime.

Cedarwood: I am in love with this oil. The woodsy smell is divine. It promotes relaxation, grounding and clarity. Add to the diffuser at night solo or combine with Serenity. You can also use it topically.

products to stay focused

Thinker: This is another popular oil from our kids line. It is a “focus blend” of Vetiver, Peppermint, Clementine, and Rosemary in a base of Fractionated Coconut Oil. This oil is great for work or study time. Apply to the back of neck, temples or pulse points.

In Tune: This is the grown-up version of a “focus blend”. (My husband uses this as well as Thinker) It is a blend of Amyris, Patchouli, Frankincense, Lime, Ylang Ylang, Hawaiian Sandalwood, and Roman Chamomile essential oils. Apply topically to the back of the neck, on temples, and bottoms of feet. Dilute with a carrier oil to minimize any skin sensitivity.

products for calming & anxiety

Brave: This invigorating blend is a mix of Wild Orange, Amyris, Osmanthus, and Cinnamon in a base of Fractionated Coconut Oil. Apply it before new or different situations for an atmosphere of courage and confidence. You can also use it throughout the day to help encourage tranquility.

Adaptiv: This oil is my obsession. I have a roller next to my bed, on my desk, and in my purse. This oil is an on-the-go solution to life’s stressful moments. Feelings of restlessness, being wound-up, or on edge happen to everyone from time to time, adapt and center with the help of the Adaptiv Touch Calming Blend.

fight off lice

Tea Tree: This antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal oil is a jack of all trades. If can be used to support your child who has an earache, it can be used on scrapes and cuts, acne and yes, it can even used to fight lice.

To use tea tree oil for lice prevention you can add 15-20 drops of Tea Tree to 4oz of distilled water in a small spray bottle. Spray to your childs hair every morning before school.

To help kill lice,  add 4 drops of Tea Tree per ounce of shampoo. Let the shampoo/Tea Tree mix sit on hair for 5-10 minutes. Rinse and then go through your childs wet hair in sections with a comb. Repeat daily as needed.
