WHAT’S IN MY BAG? 10 EVERYDAY ESSENTIALS

These days it seems like almost everybody carries a bag. Maybe it’s a purse, a backpack or a briefcase. Whatever form it comes in, people feel the need to travel with certain “must-haves”. I have always carried a purse full of goodies. It started in 7th grade when my giant jean boho bag included electric blue mascara, a 32oz bottle of Paul Mitchell hair spray, a propane curling iron and probably a few spare banana clips. I have always carried go-to items in my bag over the years and those items have evolved as my season of life has changed. As a mom, I now carry items, not just for myself, but for my kiddos as well.

My purse is so heavy, after walking around all day it feels like I spent the afternoon at the gym. But there are a bunch of items that I just can’t leave home without.

What are your go-to items for everyday carry? (let us know in the comments!)

1. On Guard Hand Sanitizer

This is a hand sanitizing spray that actually has multiple uses. I use it as an air freshener,  hand sanitizer and a table and chair cleaner when we go out to eat. doTERRA On Guard Sanitizing Mist purifies hands by eliminating 99.9 percent of bacteria and other germs on the skin through an extremely fine, quick drying mist. Infused with a natural apple extract, the moisturizing formula will not dry out the skin and leaves hands feeling soft and smooth. doTERRA On Guard blend of Wild Orange, Clove, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus, and Rosemary CPTG® essential oils provides an uplifting citrus spice aroma and its protective benefits. The naturally derived active ingredient, ethyl alcohol, gives the mist antiseptic properties to effectively cleanse hands and prevent the spread of bacteria. Sanitizing hands with the convenient mist is perfect for traveling, school, work, and on-the-go families.

2. Travel pack of tissues

This habit came from my grandmother who never goes anywhere without tissues. The small travel packs are handy and I always keep one in my purse. Usually it’s my kids who need them, it’s always helpful to have them on hand. A runny nose, a sneezing fit, a bloody knee, you never know. I wasn’t a girl scout but even I know you should always be prepared.

3. Lavender Essential Oil

This essential oil is a must carry!! I have it in my purse, in my kitchen, in the bedroom and in the bathroom. There are a plethora of uses for Lavender but when we are on the go, it is mainly used for stress, bug bites. booboos. Lavender soothes occasional skin irritations and reduces anxious feelings.

4. Chapstick

I have dry lips so I am constantly drinking water and trying to keep my lips moisturized. My absolute favorite chapstick is the doterra Spa lip balm 3pk. A good lip balm can quickly seal up any cracks on your chapped lips. It also helps prevent infection, dryness, and irritation. Each doterra lip balm contains a select blend of essential oils that provides a unique sensory experience. Moringa oil is an emollient that helps improve how the lips look and feel and avocado oil provides hydration, essential fatty acids, and softening to keep lips looking healthy.

5. Lemon Essential Oil

This is probably the essential oil that I use the most. I use it multiple times, every day. I add it to my glass water bottle throughout the day for its cleansing properties. I also use it on my kids when they fall and get cuts and scrapes. Lemon Essential Oil helps stop bleeding almost immediately. As with all citrus oils, it is also uplifting which can come in handy with that afternoon slump.

10 Items I never leave home without

6. Sunglasses

I keep at least 2 pairs of sunglasses in my car or in my purse at all times. They protect your eyes against the sun’s UV rays, which could otherwise lead to cataracts. They protect against “blue light” from the solar spectrum, which could increase your risk of macular degeneration. They also lead to improved and more comfortable vision from not having to squint. And, let’s be honest, they just look good!

7. Peppermint Beadlets

More than a breath mint, doTERRA Peppermint Beadlets can be used for oral care, respiratory health, digestive comfort, and all other situations in which Peppermint essential oil is used internally. I have also used them in the past for head tension by popping a beadlet and rubbing the oil on my temples.

8. Adaptiv Roller

I am usually fairly calm and collected. I don’t experience highs and lows emotionally. However, over the past 6 months, that has changed. Trying to balance work and remote learning for my kids and the stress of the lockdown measures, I have been on an emotional roller-coaster. Adaptiv has been a lifesaver for me. The touch roller  is an on-the-go solution to life’s stressful moments. Feelings of restlessness, being wound-up, or on edge happen to everyone from time to time and this oil helps me adapt and center.

9. $20 in Cash

Everyone seems to rely on debit and credit cards these days. My daddy taught me to always carry cash.  As a safety precaution, we all should carry some cash in case of an emergency. I’m not saying that you need to carry a lot; you certainly wouldn’t want to get robbed or lose any of it. However, in a world where people only use cards, cash is still king.

10. Pepper Spray

The world seems to have gone insane over the past several months. I feel better having some type of self-protection in the form of pepper spray. It is easy to carry, economical and can be used on multiple attackers. It is legal in most states but some states have stipulations and limitations, so you may want to check first. The following symptoms can occur and last for up to 30 minutes.  Pain in the eyes, excessive watering of the eyes, reddening of the skin around the eyes, trouble breathing, coughing, inability to speak.
